The emergency call reached Berlin from a Malaysian power station, where a motor had failed. A replacement was needed within the shortest possible time. Once again Menzel Elektromotoren proved its well known capability and flexibility by being able to provide a 11.000V motor at short notice from stock. Some customized modifications had to be made. Within less than two weeks, the footprint dimensions were adjusted, the cooling was changed from water to air cooling, the diameter of the shaft was modified as well as the position of the terminal box. After the modification, the motor was air freighted to Asia and installed under Menzel engineers’ supervision. Since its successful initial operation, the motor has been in continuous service at one of the largest Malaysian power stations.
